Regional Stream: Competitive (ages 7+)
The Regional Stream Program is divided into five levels: Pre-Competitive, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced Optional. The requirements for Advanced and Advanced Optional are equal to those for Provincial stream levels P1 and P2, which allows some opportunity for movement between streams. Gymnasts who show promise in recreational classes may be invited to join the pre-competitive group (ages 5+) where they will learn the required skills before moving into one of the competitive levels (ages 7+). These gymnasts train between 3 and 6 hours per week and compete throughout the province. Emphasis is placed on developing strength and flexibility and perfecting the skills and routines that are required for competition. Gymnasts compete on floor, vault, bars and beam. This program is by invitation only, but interested parties can contact Celia Champion, our program coordinator, for gymnast testing and more information. Gymnasts must purchase a Regional stream bodysuit and tracksuit.
